Hills hoists hopes to sway young voters

Richard Hills is a fresh face in a sea of old hats.

The Kaipatiki Local Board candidate is targeting youth. His policies include providing locals with community spaces, greater public transport options and encouraging youth to become more involved in democracy.

Mr Hills told Te Waha Nui that by encouraging youth to vote “you’re setting them up for life”. That outlook, he said, would ease the problem around low voting turnouts for younger voters and bring some balance to the current voter mix, which is dominated by an older citizen demographic.
